OVERVIEW

Lake Manyara is a freshwater lake located in the northern part of Tanzania, on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. The lake is a major tourist attraction due to its stunning scenery, abundant wildlife, and unique birdlife.

The lake is famous for its flocks of flamingos, which can be seen in large numbers along the shores of the lake. Visitors can take guided walks or drives around the lake to view these beautiful birds up close, and learn about their behaviors and habitat.

In addition to flamingos, Lake Manyara is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and many species of primates, including baboons and vervet monkeys.
