Lake Manyara Day Trip
OVERVIEW
Our day trip commences with an early morning departure from Arusha (or Moshi), embarking on a scenic drive that will take approximately two and a half hours to reach Lake Manyara National Park. You will be comfortably seated in a spacious 4×4 Land Cruiser, equipped with a pop-up roof to provide an unobstructed 360-degree view. Throughout the day, an array of magnificent wildlife awaits your discovery, including hippos, flamingos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, impalas, buffalos, baboons, blue velvet monkeys, and if fortune favors us, we might even catch a glimpse of a lion lazing in a tree. The park’s diverse fauna offers countless more encounters, waiting to be encountered.
As we traverse the park, you will be immersed in a thrilling and adventurous experience, traversing the landscapes that transition from expansive grasslands to picturesque forests. Here, wildlife may come surprisingly close, stealthily observing your presence. Therefore, it is essential to remain vigilant and attuned to your surroundings, savoring every moment.
During the wet seasons, from November to December and March to May, the lake engulfs up to 60% of the park’s total area, spanning an impressive 231 km². These months witness the lake’s alkaline waters attracting a myriad of migratory waterbirds, including the famed congregations of pink flamingos.
After a delightful lunch break, we will embark on another captivating safari, aiming to spot the elusive animals that may have eluded our sight thus far. Let us endeavor to check off as many mesmerizing wildlife encounters as possible from our list. As the day draws to a close, we will prepare for our return journey to Arusha, reminiscing about the extraordinary experiences and memories we have gathered throughout the day.
